Aquinas Consulting is currently looking to fill a Fire Protection Engineer job in Mt. Morris, MI. In this role, you will serve as a technical leader overseeing fire protection system design, hydraulic calculations, and project coordination. You will manage schedules, conduct QA/QC reviews, and ensure all fire protection plans align with NFPA standards and client specifications. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed engineer with hands-on fire sprinkler design experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safety and code compliance.

Fire Protection Engineer Job responsibilities:

• Establish design criteria for both design/build and plan/spec fire protection projects
• Perform hydraulic calculations and design sprinkler/standpipe systems using AutoSPRINK
• Review and approve fire protection plans and coordinate with other building trades
• Conduct field inspections and develop building code concepts for compliance
• Collaborate with project managers and internal teams to meet client and company requirements
• Foster strong relationships with clients, engineering departments, and trades

Qualifications:

• Licensed Professional Engineer in Michigan, with NCEES record and willingness to obtain other state licenses
• Minimum 5 years of experience in fire sprinkler design
• Proficiency in NFPA codes, FM Global Datasheets, AutoSPRINK, Navisworks, and Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills and experience leading small technical teams
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel for occasional overnight site visits
