Department Summary Start your career with MITRE’s Cyber New Professionals (CNP) Program, where you solve complex cybersecurity problems while gaining diverse experiences, building a broad professional network, and developing as a cybersecurity professional. The program has developed many cybersecurity experts and leaders across MITRE, government sponsors, and private industry. Alumni have a proven track record of impact on critical cybersecurity challenges. All CNP members benefit from the program’s: Carefully designed onboarding program Corpus of challenging and enriching rotational experiences curated training opportunities to develop new skills or enhance existing ones Access to mentors who are world-class cybersecurity experts Vibrant cohort of fellow participants CNP Onboarding The onboarding program supports members as they start their careers at MITRE or begin new rotations. Members learn about MITRE, its culture, and its organizational units. We provide resources to transition into the corporation and a support system to enrich the career experience. When starting new rotations, the program provides tools, best practices, and lessons learned to set up success. CNP Project Rotations CNP staff work on projects that provide breadth of experience and opportunities to collaborate with subject matter experts to deepen knowledge in areas of interest. Projects enable members to: Combine hands-on operational experience with best practices to develop intelligence-enabled solutions (MITRE ATT&CK, MITRE Engage, and CALDERA) that counter advanced adversaries. Enhance security, safety, and resiliency of critical cyber systems and infrastructure by applying threat-informed cybersecurity principles. Protect critical infrastructure from malicious cyber or non-kinetic disruption. CNP Training Opportunities Through projects and the CNP, staff participate in classroom-style and cohort-based training to learn new technical or professional skills or to further develop existing ones. CNP Mentoring We foster growth through meaningful connections. The Mentorship Program offers members the opportunity to engage with suitable mentors throughout their tenure. The program pairs mentees and mentors based on shared interests. Frequency and topics are determined collaboratively, allowing flexible relationship-building and mutual growth. Roles & Responsibilities Apply cybersecurity skills and expertise to the following areas: Cloud Security Cross Domain Solutions Critical Infrastructure Resiliency and Safety Crypto and Trust Cyber Adversary Emulation Cyber Analytics and Malware Cyber Assessments Cyber Deception and Adversary Engagement Cyber Effects and Reverse Engineering Cyber Forensics Cyber Resiliency Cyber Safety Cyber Strategy and Governance Cyber Supply Chain Cyber Threat Intelligence Defensive Cyber Operations Enterprise Security Architecture Identity, Credentialing, and Access Management IoT Systems Security OT/IoT Device Security OT Engineering and Response Privacy Security Automation and Management Software Assurance Internet of Things (IoT) Systems Security Operational Technology (OT)/Internet of Things (IoT) Device Security Operational Technology Engineering and Response Critical Infrastructure Modeling and Simulation Operational Technology Adversary Emulation Countermeasures for Operational Technologies (OT) Work will include: Conceive of and advance novel technical ideas Provide deep analyses whose results drive decision-making by sponsors Build proof-of-concept systems that leverage new technology and concepts Engage with the vendor community, academia, and sponsors to raise the bar on cybersecurity across the industry Basic Qualifications Typically requires less than 1 year of related experience with a related Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of related education and work experience Less than two years of full-time relevant work experience Ability to obtain a US government Top Secret (TS) security clearance Hands-on experience from previous work experience or relevant intern/co-op work Applied knowledge of cybersecurity principles, tools, and devices Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively Excellent communication skills (e.g., writing and presenting) Proactive and able to take initiative when addressing novel, complex, or ambiguous problems Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple project components Minimum 50% hybrid on-site Preferred Qualifications Proficiency with scripting and software development languages (Python, Java, C/C++, JavaScript, etc.) Knowledge of security across multiple platforms and operating systems, computer systems, mobile devices, cloud networks, and wireless networks ACTIVE Security Clearances preferred Experience with cybersecurity tools and frameworks (Nmap, Metasploit, MITRE ATT&CK, etc.) Knowledge of advanced cyber threats and adversary methodologies Clearance This requisition requires the candidate to have or obtain the following clearance(s) within one year from hire: Top Secret. Clearance level is subject to government requirements. Salary and Benefits Salary compensation range and midpoint: $83,000 - $125,000 annually. Work Location Hybrid work location type.
